Dr. Nai’m Moola is an esteemed psychiatrist registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) and the founder of The Centre for Integrative Psychiatry, a pioneering institution dedicated to redefining mental health care through holistic and innovative approaches. With over two decades of experience, Dr. Moola has established himself as a leader in the field, blending conventional psychiatric practices with complementary therapies to provide personalized, cutting-edge care.
Dr. Moola’s academic journey began with a Bachelor of Medical Science (BMedSc) degree from the University of Durban-Westville in 1996, where he received a merit award for his Honours research on Myocardial Bridges. He later earned his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) degree from the Medical University of Southern Africa (MEDUNSA) in 2002.
Following his medical internship at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital and community service at Pretoria Academic Hospital, he specialized in psychiatry at the University of Pretoria. In 2008, he was admitted as a Fellow of the College of Psychiatrists (FCPsych) by the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa and received the prestigious MS Bell Award for his research on the Profile of Mortality of Patients Admitted to Weskoppies Psychiatric Hospital (2001-2005), published in the African Journal of Psychiatry in 2010. He completed his Master of Medicine in Psychiatry (MMed-Psych) from the University of Pretoria in 2009.
Dr. Moola’s career spans both clinical and corporate realms. After his specialization, he joined Eli Lilly (Pty) Ltd as a Clinical Research Physician, where he engaged with global psychiatric thought leaders, honed his clinical research skills, and developed a passion for medical education. He chaired and facilitated numerous roundtable discussions, advisory boards, and conferences, and was invited as the keynote speaker at the 2nd Annual Scientific Conference of the Kenya Psychiatric Association in 2010.
In 2011, Dr. Moola returned to his true passion—clinical work—establishing two hospital-based practices at Life Healthcare facilities in Johannesburg. Over nine years, he treated a diverse patient base gaining extensive experience in managing neuropsychiatric conditions, mood and anxiety disorders, substance-related disorders, ADHD and other developmental disorders, personality disorders, and psychotic disorders. His clinical outlook evolved to embrace a holistic, psycho-neuro-endocrinological/immunological perspective, shifting away from formulary-guided interventions toward a more integrative and patient-centred approach.
In 2020, Dr. Moola transitioned to his current role as an Integrative Psychiatrist, founding The Centre for Integrative Psychiatry. Here, he combines conventional psychiatric treatments with complementary therapies such as homeopathic and nutraceutical products, nutritional and exercise guidance, mindfulness meditation, breathwork, and eclectic psychotherapy. His practice also incorporates innovative approaches like IV therapies and psychedelic-assisted therapy, reflecting his commitment to addressing mental health as a multifaceted, individualized journey.
Dr. Moola’s mission is to empower individuals on their paths to self-actualization and mental wellness. By integrating traditional and alternative modalities, he provides a safe, nurturing environment where patients can access comprehensive, personalized care. Through The Centre for Integrative Psychiatry, Dr. Moola continues to push the boundaries of mental health care, offering a diverse range of treatment options to help patients achieve optimal well-being and holistic health.
Driven by a deep-rooted belief in the power of holistic healing, Dr. Moola is not only a clinician but also a visionary, dedicated to transforming the landscape of mental health care and inspiring individuals to take charge of their mental and emotional well-being
